What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

What happens during PRP procedures?

If you and your specialist decide PRP is the right solution for you, you relax in a comfortable chair while they take a sample of blood from a vein in your arm. They spin the blood sample in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP from your whole blood. 

Your doctor then injects PRP into targeted areas of your scalp, just beneath the skin. Doing so accelerates cell regeneration and hair regrowth over time. Your specialist may suggest you take hair regrowth medications or undergo hormone replacement therapy to enhance your results. 

If you opt for LightStim treatment, your provider applies a handheld device to areas of aging skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. The procedure is fast and painless, but it can produce dramatic results.

What should I expect after my treatment?

After platelet-rich plasma therapy or LightStim treatment, there’s no downtime. You can resume normal everyday activities immediately. You might experience some swelling, redness, or tenderness at the treatment site, but any of those soon subside.
